What is Migraine?
Migraine is a debilitating neurological disorder affecting over five million people in Australia alone with women are three times more likely to have migraine than men and 86% of those affected are of working age. Around 400,000 Australians experience chronic migraines which is defined as having 15 or more migraine days per month!
While there is no cure for migraine, Avulux can help provide a tool for some people to manage their symptoms and triggers.

Research
Recent research has linked melanopsin to pain in people with migraine and/or photophobia. Melanopsin in secreted by retinal ganglion cells when peak activated by wavelengths of light in the upper blue and amber range. A corroborating Harvard study found that light increased migraine headache pain, except for green light.
In an independent, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial, Avulux glasses showed clinical and statistical significance in reducing light-triggered pain and light sensitivity in subjects with migraine.

What is Avulux?
It is a patented and safe lens engineered to help people manage their light sensitivity and live well with migraines. A multi-band precision optical filter engineered with a patented, proprietary nanomolecular technology. Avulux precisely filters up to 97% of the clinically identified most painful wavelengths of blue, red and ambler light, whilst selectively allowing in over 70% of soothing green light.
What we offer
We are able to dispense Avulux lenses in non-prescription as well as a wide range of prescriptions and lens styles including single vision and various progressive powered lenses styles.
We have a small range of loan glasses with non-prescription Avulux lenses for our patients to try for a period of up to 2 weeks should they wish to confirm their suitability for Avulux before ordering.
